Customer Reviews about Comerica Bank:

The customer service at this location is absolutely horrible. This is the bank that I opened my account with, however the bank I frequently used was the Stadium Rd. location (whose staff is WONDERFUL and very friendly, by the way... I would recommend going there if you do choose to bank with Comerica), so I did not use this location often. Because this is where I opened the account though, this is who I had to contact with any issues with my account, and each time I left upset and frustrated with the overall tone and lack of assistance I received from the staff. My most recent experience has me absolutely irate. I recently moved from Michigan to a state that does not have Comerica branches. While settling into my new home and job, my Comerica account was overdrafted due to an automated bill. Long story short, I have been calling customer service and my own branch for weeks trying to get this issue resolved, and each time the manager is not available. Finally, the branch manager, Diane Curry, called me back (I was told she would call last Friday... didn't hear from her until Tuesday) and informed me that she could take off 2 of the $32 overdraft fees, but since it was not an error the bank itself made, that is all she could offer. I explained to her that I am financially strapped right now as I am trying to adjust to a new city and job/salary, and that this whole overdraft situation has dug me into a hole. Even with her taking off 2 of those fees, it will still be some time before I can pay off the balance (which is about 4x the amount that was actually overdrawn, thanks to all the overdraft fees). I explained could definitely pay what I actually overdrafted and close the account if only the overdraft fees could be removed, and she told me that I have to pay for all of it because it was not the bank's fault. I asked if there was a way to freeze my account, to avoid any other overdraft fees, especially since I have explained the situation to them, and she told me no. She was extremely rude, offered me no solutions, didn't take the time to explain the overdraft fees, how they work, when and how often they are applied, etc. She didn't offer anything. She just kept repeating, "There's nothing more I can do than that." After hanging up with her, I called customer service, who informed me that the reason I kept getting overdraft fees is because there is a transaction from PayPal that continuously tries to pay off with my debit card, and THAT is the reason why I keep acquiring new charges. She explained that after 6 overdraft transactions they stop as long as nothing new tries to go through. She told me to contact PayPal and have that transaction (which is like $8 by the way) transferred to my new bank and I should stop acquiring debt on the account. She was kind, compassionate, and tried to offer me a lot of practical solutions to resolve my debt. Diane Curry offered me nothing. She didn't have a fleck of care for my concerns or me as a customer in her voice. So, stay away from this branch if you choose to bank with Comerica. If you do and unfortunately find yourself in a bind, not only will the manager do absolutely nothing for you, explain nothing to you, and give you zero options, but she will also be extremely rude and inconsiderate of the importance of your banking concerns.

It took me 3 months to close my account and they kept trying to charge me more money. Will never do business with them again!
